Lansford man facing DUI charges
A 35-year-old Lansford man is facing charges of suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on Friday in Nesquehoning.
Borough police said Justin Vavro of 843 E. Ridge St., was driving a 2009 Toyota Matrix south on Route 209 when it struck a legally parked 2000 Chevrolet Impala owned by Kim Shafer. His vehicle then crossed over Route 209 and came to rest after striking a curb in the area of 127 W. Catawissa St.
Police said Vavro was transported to the St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale for a blood test, the results of which are pending.
The driver will also be cited for careless driving.
