Man charged with DUI in Thorpe crash

Jim Thorpe police have released the details of a crash that happened over 10 months ago, reporting they arrested Kevin William Gowrie, 41, of 512 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, for driving under the influence of alcohol (two counts) and endangering the welfare of a child.

The crash took place on Feb. 15 on Hill Road. Police said Gowrie was driving a vehicle that was southbound when it struck a wall. His eight-year-old child was in the vehicle.

Police said the man displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He agreed to a blood test, which resulted in a blood-alcohol reading of 0.196 percent.
