Beaver Meadows woman charged with forgery and theft
A Beaver Meadows woman faces charges of forgery and theft for taking her sister's state identification card and her parents' checkbook, according to state police at Hazleton.
Kaitlin R. Helmer, 20, admitted to taking the card and checkbook, police said in a news release. Helmer admitted to forging her mother's name in order to cash the checks in her sister's name.
Police also found drug paraphernalia in Helmer's car.
She is charged with felony forgery, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, possession of drug paraphernalia and identity theft.
Helmer was arraigned before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of weatherly and jailed under $25,000 cash bail.
