Library story time

The Tamaqua Public Library's Spring Story Time session will begin March 17 and 18. The free sessions are open to preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 6.

This year's theme will be "Bursting Into Color." Sessions will be held for 10 consecutive weeks, Mondays and Tuesdays, concluding on May 20. In addition to story reading/telling, participants will learn new songs, design special crafts and enjoy a snack.

For more information or to register a child, stop in at the library or call 570-668-4660.

Snow rules

It seems as though the snow is never-ending. While residents are running out of places to pile the wet, white stuff, Tamaqua residents are reminded of borough rules concerning snow removal.

Property owners are required to maintain a clear path, at least 3 feet wide, on sidewalks. Snow and ice must be removed from these pathways within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm.

Snow, ice and other materials may not be thrown into the streets. Fines of $25 and up may be imposed on anyone caught throwing snow or ice into the street, or who fails to maintain a snow-free pathway.

People who plow snow from in front of homes and businesses must remove any piles of snow they create.

Anyone piling snow in the street or parking areas could be cited.

Residents are asked to refrain from piling snow near fire hydrants or on top of storm drains and are encouraged to clear snow from these areas.

More information is available by calling 570-668-3444 or 570-668-0300.

Coffee connection

The Tamaqua Area Ministerium is sponsoring a three-part series as part of its community ministry program, titled "Coffee and Connection." The series is designed to encourage free and open conversations about God, the church and individuals.

The theme will be "Things We Wish Jesus Hadn't Said." Each meeting will focus on a different message.

All meetings will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on select dates at Vonz Restaurant, located in the train station in Tamaqua.

The first meeting will be Tuesday and will focus on "Anyone who does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple."

Additional meetings will be held on March 24 (Love your enemy) and April 24 (Give away everything you have).

No preregistration is required and the public is welcome.
