FERC needs to listen to comments
Dear Editor:
Because the PennEast pipeline is so important both to the residents and local governments in Carbon County, it is vital that the staffers from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission listen carefully to our concerns and comments.
I thought that would happen at the "scoping" hearing at Penn's Peak on Feb. 11. Instead, speakers were given three minutes to present their case, and the FERC staffers seemed more interested in timing the speakers than in listening to our testimony.
The legal definition of a public hearing may have been met, but to many participants it was a cynical exercise by FERC, which seems to have already made up its mind.
Sincerely,
Roy Christman
