Library story time
The Tamaqua Public Library's Spring Story Time session will begin March 17 and 18. The free sessions are open to preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 6.
This year's theme will be "Bursting Into Color."
Sessions will be held for 10 consecutive weeks, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, concluding May 20. In addition to story reading/telling, participants will learn new songs, design special crafts and enjoy a snack.
The library is holding a March Madness book sale, where all items are 10 cents each.

Rush taxes
Rush Township Dolores Walck has announced that her tax office will not open until March 25. Mailed tax payments will be accepted during this time.
A complete list of open dates, hours and closings can be found on the tax bills.
Computer classes
The Tamaqua Public Library offers free basic computer classes through the Seniors Training Seniors Program. The one-on-one instruction is offered throughout each week during normal library hours.
The classes are also available to the general public on a space available basis.

Weekly prayer
The Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network is sponsoring a series of weekly prayer meetings at the New Life Assembly of God Church on Schuylkill Avenue. The meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday during February, March and April. The public is welcome to attend.

St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school class will meet at 10:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, worship and music committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, midweek Lenten service, 7 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church; Thursday, angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m., chancel choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This Sunday's service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.; Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadets and Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Wednesday, midweek Lenten service, 7:30 p.m., Ben Salem Church; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., cherub choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m., junior choir rehearses at 7 p.m., senior choir practice at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, World Day of Prayer.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at this Sunday's 10:30 a.m. service in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Thursday, Bible study session at 12:30 p.m.
