Wednesday service at St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, 7 p.m., Holden Evening Prayer Service with Holy Communion. For those who wish to come early, a free, simple supper will be served at 6 p.m. and a brief Bible study is held at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Pastor Marjorie Keiter, 570-273-4038. Polish heritage
Panther Valley Public Library will host an organizational meeting for a discussion group on Polish heritage at 11 a.m. Feb. 12. Call the library at 570-645-3780 for information.
Tax preparation help for seniors
The Panther Valley Public Library will offer assistance to seniors 60 and older in preparing income tax 1040A and 1040 EZ forms and state tax returns beginning Feb. 4.
This service will be offered at the library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are required. Call the library to schedule an appointment or for more information. Donations to the library will be accepted.

Spring youth soccer registration
The Panther Valley Youth Soccer Association will hold its spring registrations on Feb. 2, 9 and 12 at McDonald's in Nesquehoning from 6-8 p.m. The program is open to children ages 4-14. Cost is $50 for the first child and $40 for each additional child.
