DUI arrests

State police at Fern Ridge reported on two driving under the influence arrests made by troopers.

Troopers said at 1:11 a.m. on May 23 Joseph Edward Houghton, 58, of Saylorsburg, was stopped along Route 715, at the intersection with Neola Road in Jackson Township, Monroe County, for failing to stop for a posted stop sign.

He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was transported to the county DUI center for a blood test.

At 2:11 a.m. on May 24 Carrie Beth Smith, 44, of Philadelphia, was merging onto Route 903 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County, when she almost rear-ended another vehicle. A traffic stop was made for following too closely.

Smith was found to be under the influence and was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test.
