Schuylkill crash
A young girl was slightly injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:06 p.m. on Monday, along Route 61 in Blythe Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Tammy M. Brown, 30, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 1997 Ford Escort northbound, just south of Frackville, in an area known as "the grade." She dropped a beverage which fell down behind the brake pedal. Brown then hit the gas pedal, causing her to lose control.
The Escort traveled off the west side of the road and struck the guard rail with the front end. Upon impact the Escort traveled another 30 feet north on the berm before coming to rest.
A 9-year-old girl sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for observation. Brown and two other children in the vehicle, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, were not injured.
Damages were termed extensive to the front end of the Escort, which had to be towed.
