Nesquehoning man charged with theft from his employer

Published July 10. 2015 03:55PM

McAdoo Police have charged a Nesquehoning man following an investigation into thefts at the Fegley Mini Mart on Kennedy Drive.

William Wenzel of 11 Spruce Terrace, Nesquehoning, was employed at the mini mart in 2014, working the middle and late shifts. At one point, the store manager noticed a number of discrepancies with the cash register and began investigating. She noticed a pattern and began reviewing store video tapes.

She was able to determine that Wenzel was manipulating sales transactions, voiding out certain transactions and pocketing the cash. Further review also showed him placing grocery items, automotive items and bags of coal in garbage bags during his shift. He would then place the filled garbage bags in his personal vehicle.

The loss to his employer totaled several thousand dollars.

Wenzel was fired on Jan. 17.

Repeated efforts to reach Wenzel for a police interview were unsuccessful. He has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property and a warrant could be issued for his arrest.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts may contact McAdoo Police at 570-929-2590.
