A Schuylkill County man is facing a theft count in Mahoning Township.

Township police said Kevin Machay Jr., 24, of Tuscarora, has been charged with retail theft (misdemeanor).

On May 2, at 7:20 p.m. Walmart employees observed Machay flee the store with a Blu-ray DVD player valued at $158.99. A vehicle description was provided to police.

Machay was later spotted at the intersection of Route 443 and Ninth Street. When officers attempted to stop him he fled at a high rate of speed and eluded police. Officers later arrested him at a residence in Weissport.

The Blu-ray player was recovered from an old structure on the canal where it had been hidden.
