Details of crash with pedestrian set

State police at Frackville released details of a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said the incident occurred at 5:15 a.m. along Route 61 at Altamont Boulevard in West Mahanoy Township, just outside Frackville.

Troopers said Starr Kline, 20, of Minersville, was attempting to cross the road and entered into the path of a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Jerald R. Metzger, 37, of Shenandoah, who was southbound in the left lane. The right front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

Kline was taken to a Pottsville hospital for treatment of what troopers described as a major injury. Metzger was not injured. Damages were minor to the vehicle.

Troopers cited Kline for pedestrians crossing at other than crosswalks.
