Driver flees Carbon crash scene

A driver fled the scene of a one-vehicle crash that occurred on May 10 in Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Edward Whitehead III, 30, of Andreas, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon westbound on West Lizard Creek Road, at Lauchnors Road, in East Penn Township, when he lost control. The vehicle struck a pole causing it to overturn and come to rest about 100 feet from where it struck the pole.

A passenger, Timothy Whitehead, 30, of Nesquehoning, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained moderate injuries, troopers said. Edward Whitehead then fled the scene on foot, troopers added.
