A Schuylkill County driver was injured and flown to a hospital following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:34 p.m. Friday.

State police at Frackville said Benito A. Guzman Jr., 36, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2003 Ford Focus southbound on Route 924 in East Union Township when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road causing him to lose control.

The car left the road on the east berm, struck a tree head-on, then overturned down an embankment where it came to rest on its roof.

Guzman was flown by helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of injuries. Troopers said he was admitted in stable condition. Guzman was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers also said Guzman will receive multiple traffic citations including driving without a valid license.
