Victims of fatal truck crash ID
The two victims of a fatal tractor-trailer crash that occurred on June 1 along Interstate 78 in Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, have been identified by the county coroner's office.
Coroner Scott M. Grim said Virgil S. Perry, 42, the driver of the truck, and Sharon Newsome, 38, his passenger, were killed in the crash. Both resided at 3958 Rockhouse Road, in Tomahawk, Kentucky.
Due to the conditions of the bodies, DNA testing had to be performed in order to scientifically identify the two victims, Grim said.
At the time of the crash state police at Fogelsville said a tractor-trailer (which was driven by Perry) struck the center median, and then struck a bridge support.
A second tractor-trailer was struck by the trailer of the first rig, as the second driver attempted to avoid the crash. The second driver was not injured.
