Published June 30. 2015 12:56PM

Jim Thorpe police have reported the arrest of Javier Jose Garcia, 40, of 236 Sunset Way, Palmerton, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanor offenses, as a result of an incident that happened at 11:27 a.m. Oct. 5.

Police said they were summoned to the area of Lehigh Avenue near the county office complex for a report of an intoxicated male operating a red Mini Cooper with two children reportedly in the vehicle. Police said they observed the vehicle in the county parking lot adjacent to Lehigh Avenue, and, upon approaching the car, found Garcia to be argumentative and confrontational.

Police said the man displayed signs of intoxication and was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he refused. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and was noncompliant while being handcuffed, police said.

The man was transported to the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton for a blood-alcohol test, to which he initially agreed but then later refused.
