Liquor board cites 5 Schuylkill businesses

The Allentown enforcement office of the state liquor control board cited five Schuylkill County businesses for violations of the state liquor code.

The Brown Jug, 1416 E. Grand Ave., Reinerton, Porter Township, was cited for using a loudspeaker or similar device that allowed music or other entertainment to be heard outside of the business. The violation occurred on March 7.

La Casita De Familia, 8 E. Centre St., Shenandoah, was cited for the same violation which occurred on Feb. 28.

Julian's Tavern, 874 S. Centre St., Pottsville, was cited for operating a licensed establishment without a valid health permit or license between Nov. 1, 2014, and Jan. 7.

Foreign Service Club of Pine Grove, 140 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, was cited for failing to operate bingo in accordance with the law by failing to deposit the proceeds from the day's event in a financial institution in an account with the association's name.

Russo's Pizza Den & Restaurant Inc., 1373 Route 61, West Brunswick Township, was cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose fines ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious one.

The judge also has the authority to suspend or revoke the liquor license of the business cited based on the severity of the charge brought.
