Tamaqua man cited for assault
David Harley Hartranft, 20, of 502 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, has been cited following a domestic incident in the borough on April 22.
The victim reported the incident to police after seeking treatment at a hospital emergency room. She told police she had been sleeping when Hartranft began yelling that he didn't have any cigarettes and didn't want to go to work without them. The yelling woke her.
Hartranft then pushed her head into the mattress, suffocating her. She was able to get free by biting him in the arm. He slapped her across the face, grabbed her and threw her against a television set, which broke under the impact.
The victim was able to contact her mother, who took her to the hospital.
Hartranft was cited for simple assault and harassment.
