Support school board candidates
Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in support of Larry Stern, Wayne Wentz, Justin Wehr and Andy Yenser, who are candidates for Lehighton Area School Board. They are all graduates of Lehighton Area High School, and all have made their home in Lehighton.
They will continue to support programs at Lehighton schools such as music, art and after school activities. They wish to ensure our students get the best education possible to prepare them for the future.
I understand well that change is sometimes hard to understand when it involves the students of our district. I remember when we added Shull David and closed first ward and third ward schools. I believe this change will provide the best for children and will save taxpayers in the long run. Common sense will tell you that it is cheaper to maintain one school than to pay to renovate four 60-plus-year-old schools.
Now the time has come to combine these schools into one which will benefit all: students, teachers and the taxpaying public. Imagine the savings with energy-efficient heating and cooling units, new roofs and better security, just to mention a few.
I support these four men to continue with the progress they are trying to make, and I hope all of Lehighton school district will, too. It is time to move forward.
