Speeding stop leads to DUI count

A vehicle stopped by Mahoning Township police for speeding has led to the driver being charged with driving under the influence.

On March 1 at 2:38 a.m. township police stopped a vehicle on Route 443 for speeding (64 mph in a 45 zone) and for careless driving (swerving).

The driver was identified as Julie Harris, of Lehighton. She submitted to a blood test with the result being 0.19 BAC. As a result she has been charged with two counts of DUI, and one count each of speeding and careless driving.
