Coaldale man faces DUI charges
A Coaldale man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop in Tamaqua on May 10.
An officer on patrol at 8:16 p.m. saw a red Jeep Wrangler being driven in an erratic manner in the 600 block of East Broad Street. The SUV was heading east toward Coaldale and the driver kept crossing into the other lane of travel.
A traffic stop was made in the area of Sisters Cantina and the driver was identified as Drew Allen Strohl, 54, of 52 E. Howard Ave.
Strohl appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to drinking "about five beers." He failed field sobriety tests and was then transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale for blood tests.
Charges are pending the results of those tests.
