Two cited in verbal argument

Published May 20. 2015 04:00PM

A Tamaqua couple was cited for disorderly conduct after a domestic dispute in the borough on Friday.

Police were dispatched to 242 E. Broad St. at 4:37 a.m. after someone reported a fight in front of the apartment building. The caller said one of the combatants had a shovel.

On scene an officer saw pieces of a blue plastic snow shovel and heard a woman yelling, with the voice coming from a first-floor apartment. The door to the apartment was open, allowing the officer to see a woman, screaming and pushing a male down a hallway. They were identified as Caitlin Patricia Phillips, 19, and Kyle Reed Morales, 19.

Both admitted to a verbal argument and Reed said he broke the shovel when his temper got the better of him.

He agreed to leave the apartment for a cooling-off period.
