Four injured in rear-end collision

Four people were injured in a rear-end collision that was reported at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of routes 183 and 895 in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Harold E. Walters Jr., 56, of Schuylkill Haven, and Kim Bhatt, 46 of North Haledon, New Jersey, were both northbound on 183.

Bhatt began to slow down to turn onto 895 when her 2014 Toyota Prius was struck in the rear by Walters' 2013 Ford Fusion.

Bhatt and passengers Paulomi J. Desai, 45, of Sebring, Florida; Jayaben B. Pandya, 66, of North Haledon; and Walters, were all taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of minor injuries. A third passenger with Bhatt was not injured.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Walters for following too closely.
