'Quality of life' violators cited
Tamaqua police have released the latest list of "quality of life" zoning ordinance violations that were issued, including a number of people cited for having high weeds.
Violating the weed ordinance were: Thomas Matousek, 634 E. Broad St.; Brian Brode, 535 Arlington St.; James Mansell, 410 Arlington St.; Paul Nemeth, 319 Hazle St.; Frank Umbriac, 402 Arlington St.; John Sweeney, 537 E. Elm St.; John Malay, 535 E. Elm St.; Karen Williams, 431 Willing St.; and Michael Harley, 332 Mahanoy St.
All were first offenses.
Cited for violating the rubbish/garbage ordinance were: Brian Brode, 535 Arlington St.; Paul Nemeth, 319 Hazle St.; Jonathan Miller, 29 R. Center St. and 29 Center St.; and Harbour Portifolio, 306 E. Elm St.
Miller's were both second offenses, while all other were first timers.
Umbriac and Mansell were also cited for having indoor appliances placed outdoors.
Miller and Portifolio were also cited for having trash/storage containers out more than 24 hours in advance of pick up.
The fine for a first offense is $25, $50 for a second offense and $100 for a third offense.
