Numerous citations issued by Nesquehoning police
Nesquehoning police released the following activity report:
Chief Sean Smith cited a number of drivers for speeding within the borough.
On May 22, he cited one driver for driving 45 in a 25 mph zone along Oak and Catawissa; and another driver for driving 41 in the same area.
On May 23, six drivers were cited for speeding, each doing over 40 mph in a 25 mph zone in the area of Oak and Catawissa streets.
On that same day, four drivers were cited for speeding along Route 93, four exceeded 70 mph in a 55 mph zone; while one, identified as Kelly Yerger-Smith of Nesquehoning, was clocked at 85 in the 55 mph zone.
On May 24, Smith cited one driver along Route 93 for doing 71 in a 55 mph zone.
Officer Carl Breiner issued citations for the following incidents:
On April 15, cited Jason Maxim Brunda, 32, of 105 E. Catawissa St., for retail theft after he was caught taking items from the Dollar General in Nesquehoning.
On April 26, cited Raeanne Jean Whitaker, 49, of 5 Lynwood St., Tamaqua, for a crash in the borough.
On April 29, cited Brandon V. Smart of 108 Adams Drive, Bainbridge, Georgia, for an incident involving an overturned tractor trailer at the intersection of routes 209 and 93. He was cited for accident involving overturned vehicles, stop signs and yield signs, driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed and unlawful activities.
Officer Richard Neikam issued the following citations:
On May 22, cited one driver for speeding along Route 54; and cited another for a stop sign violation at the intersection of routes 54 and 209.
On May 23, cited several drivers for excessive speeding along Route 93. Cited were Jesus Christ Marmolejos of 411 W. Green St., Hazleton, who was driving 93 in a 55 mph zone. He was also cited for careless driving.
Also cited was David C. Coles Jr. of 28 Pine St., Drums, for driving 107 in a 55 mph.
On May 24, Smith cited one driver for driving 92 in a 55 mph zone, as well as careless driving. The driver was identified as Kalyan C. Thammineni of 2605 Christiana Meadows, Bear, Delaware.
