Results of roving DUI patrols listed

The North Central Pennsylvania Regional DUI Enforcement Program has released the results of Roving DUI Patrols and a Sobriety Checkpoint held over the Memorial Day weekend in the Frackville area of Schuylkill County.

A sobriety checkpoint was held May 22. A total of 1,032 vehicles were contacted with 39 being detained. Of the 10 drivers tested for possibly driving under the influence, four adults were charged with DUI.

Officers made one criminal arrest, 18 traffic arrests and issued 10 warnings. The checkpoint was staffed by 14 officers representing eight police departments.

Also on May 22, one officer conducted a Roving Patrol. Ten vehicles were contacted and detained, with no one found to be driving drunk. The officer did make two traffic arrests and issued eight warnings.

Four officers participated in a Roving Patrol on May 23, contacting 21 vehicles. Three drivers were tested and two adults were arrested for DUI. One seat belt violation, 15 traffic citations and nine warnings were issued by the four officers involved.

An officer was also out on May 24, testing eight drivers for possible intoxication. The officer issued four traffic citations, made one criminal arrest and issued five warnings.

DUI enforcement efforts will continue to be conducted through June 8 on routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.

The checkpoints and patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
