Lackawanna driver injured in crash

A Lackawanna County driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Monroe County on Oct. 15.

State police at Fern Ridge said Joseph E. Riley, 54, of Clarks Green, was driving a 2003 Cadillac Deville eastbound on Longwood Road in Chestnuthill Township at 4:47 p.m. when a dog ran out onto the road in front of him. Riley swerved to avoid the animal. His vehicle left the road and struck a pole along the berm.

Riley was taken to Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Troopers said Riley was cited for the crash.

Troopers also reported on a crash that occurred on Oct. 15 along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.

Tony B. Bell Jr., 21, of Effort, was driving a 2002 Dodge Durango when it left the road and struck a stone wall. Bell was not injured.

He was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
