Schuylkill resident victim of fraud

Published November 05. 2015 04:00PM

A Schuylkill County resident is the victim of fraud.

State police at Frackville said a 55-year-old male from Middleport contacted another person, who he believed to be in Topeka, Kansas, to purchase a John Deere excavator. Troopers said it was a scam and no excavator was for sale. The address was fake and so was the contact information.

The victim wired a large sum of money to the suspects without checking the validity of the transaction.

Troopers urge people not to send money to unknown recipients without checking the validity of the transaction and/or the people involved. The investigation of the incident is continuing.
