SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAM

Published November 10. 2015 04:00PM

Blue Mountain Health System will offer a free program on quitting smoking at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the community room at the Gnaden Huetten campus, 211 N. 12th St., Lehighton.

Tobacco addiction is both mental and physical. For many smokers, it can be hard to break the social and emotional ties to smoking while getting over nicotine withdrawal symptoms at the same time. Some people are able to quit on their own, but research shows that smokers are most successful in kicking the habit when they have support.

Fortunately, there are many sources of support. Speaker and smoking cessation counselor, Barbara Kocher, MSN, NC-P, will discuss the Smoking Cessation Program at BMHS and the tools available to quit smoking for good, including counseling, self-help materials, nicotine replacement therapies, medicines, and other methods to deal with the physical part of withdrawal.

Register by calling 610-377-7070.
