Palmerton man arrested on multiple charges

Weatherly police arrested Martin Bishop of Palmerton on Wednesday.

Bishop went to Weatherly to purchase prescription pills off a confidential source, police said.

He was arrested after taking possession of the pills and paying for them. Police said Bishop was driving on a suspended license. His vehicle also had a suspended registration and his insurance was canceled. Along with the summary traffic violations, he was arraigned on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility.

Unable to post bail, he was taken to Carbon County prison.
