State police at Frackville reported investigating two crashes on Schuylkill County roads, both occurring on Friday.

A one-vehicle crash occurred at 6:42 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Foster Township. Troopers said Danielle L. Metzger, 36, of Shenandoah, was driving a 1995 Subaru Legacy southbound in the passing lane when the vehicle drifted to the left and onto the left shoulder.

Metzger lost control of the vehicle which began to spin 90 degrees counterclockwise. The Subaru then crossed both lanes of travel, went onto the right shoulder and struck an embankment. The Subaru then spun 160 degrees counterclockwise along the embankment. During the spinning, the left side of the vehicle struck a small tree and came to rest. Metzger was wearing a seat belt and the front air bags were deployed.

She was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. She was cited for the crash.

The second crash was reported at 4:28 p.m. at the intersection of Route 209 and Trolley Road in Blythe Township involving two vehicles. Troopers said Thomas Grady, 70, of Pottsville, was stopped for a stop sign on Trolley Road. Grady was attempting to enter Route 209 and struck a 2006 Jeep Liberty, operated by Barbara M. Bright, 64, of New Philadelphia, with his 2009 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Bright was injured and taken to the SMC. Grady was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Troopers said Grady was cited for stop signs and yield signs.
