Schuylkill drivers in Lehigh crashes
Two Schuylkill County drivers were involved in two separate crashes along Lehigh County roads recently, state police at Fogelsville reported.
At 2:46 p.m. Thursday, a crash occurred along Route 309 in Lynn Township. Troopers said Larry D. Moyer, 48, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2001 Ford F250 van northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck traveled across the oncoming lane and struck a metal guardrail on the south side of the road. The truck was then struck by a 2012 Volvo truck tractor driven southbound by Kenneth A. Bowen, 42, of Allentown, which caused the van to overturn.
Moyer was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, by Cetronia ambulance. Bowen was not injured.
The second crash was reported at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday along Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township. Troopers said Samuel J. Strunk, 18, of Auburn, was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang westbound in the middle lane and attempting to change lanes. He failed to maintain a safe speed and lost traction and steering control, troopers said. The car went into a slide and hit the center median with its front bumper and right rear quarter panel. The Mustang came to rest in the left lane facing southeast.
Strunk was not injured but the Mustang had to be towed from the scene. Troopers said Strunk was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
