Lehighton man facing DUI in Tamaqua
A Lehighton man is facing charges after an incident in Tamaqua on Saturday.
An officer was monitoring traffic at 1:44 a.m. when he observed a green Ford Expedition being driven in an erratic manner. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver of the Ford as Christopher Scott Caldwell, 37, of 35 Sam Brooke Circle.
Caldwell admitted drinking a few beers and shots at a local bar, then began complaining of stomach pains. He was offered, and refused, medical treatment several times. He was given, and failed, field sobriety tests before being transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale. At the hospital he consented to having blood drawn and never mentioned any stomach pains to the medical staff.
He was later released into the custody of his mother-in-law.
Charges are pending the lab test results.
