Lehighton man is facing charges

William Simon Billings, 40, of Lehighton, was arrested by state police at the Lehighton barracks at 12:40 p.m. Nov. 14, when he was charged with shoplifting at the Walmart Store, 1731 E. Blakeslee Blvd., Mahoning Township.

Police said he was observed removing numerous items from the shelves of the store and placing them into a shopping cart. Police said he then obtained a gray plastic Walmart shopping bag and was observed placing the items from the cart into the bag, after which time he left the store. He was then detained by an asset protection associate at the store.
