Several injuries occurred following a two-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County Monday afternoon.

State Police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 4:29 p.m. while Pantellis Santorinos, 50, of Scotrun, was operating a 2009 Timpte trailer north in the right lane along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

Ruby Wingate, 56, of Dayton, Texas, was operating a 2009 International truck tractor and also traveling north in the right lane and was in front of Santorinos.

At that time the front of the Timpte trailer impacted the rear trailer (driver's side) of the International truck tractor. Following impact, Wingate pulled her vehicle to the east berm. After impact, Santorinos lost control of his vehicle and went down a 50-foot embankment where it came to final rest.

Santorinos sustained a moderate right leg injury and was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners campus, Coaldale. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident. Wingate sustained a minor wrist injury, and refused EMS transport. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the incident.

A passenger in the 2013 Stoughton trailer, Clarence Decker, 55, of Daytona, Texas, sustained a minor injury.

The Timpte trailer suffered disabling front-end damage, and was towed from the scene. The International truck tractor did not suffer any damage. The 2013 Stoughton trailer suffered moderate damage to the rear driver's side rear trailer.

Santorinos will receive a traffic citation as a result of the crash.

Also assisting on scene were Ryan Township EMS, Shenandoah EMS, and local fire department personnel.
