Former Lehighton man wins a national poetry competition

Blake Nathan Campbell of Boston, formerly of Lehighton, is the winner of the 2015 Aliki Perroti and Seth Frank Most Promising Young Poet Award for his poem “Bioluminescence.”

The competition is sponsored by the Academy of American Poets and comes with a $1,000 cash award. The poem can be viewed at http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/bioluminescence.

Blake graduated from Palmerton Area High School in 2011 and most recently graduated summa cum laude from Emerson College in 2015 with a bachelor of arts in writing, literature and publishing. He is currently employed at Tufts University in Boston.

Blake is the son of Christine (Ziegenfuss) Campbell of Lehighton and Blake E. Campbell of Harrisburg.

Maternal grandparents are Patricia (Hawk) Ziegenfuss, deceased, and Billy Ziegenfuss of Weatherly.

Paternal grandparents are Malcom Campbell Sr., deceased, and Mary Campbell of Lehighton. He has a younger sister, Lauren, who is a freshman at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
