One person injured in Schuylkill crash
One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:15 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Route 4030 and Route 924 in the borough of Gilberton, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said the crash occurred as Kelly Labiak, 53, of Shenandoah, driving a 2006 Ford Taurus, exited the 924 off-ramp and was positioned at a stop sign attempting to turn onto 4030. John Koperna, 54, of Herndon, Northumberland County, was driving a 1993 Western Star triaxle truck westbound on 4030. Labiak, troopers said, claimed she did not see the truck and attempted a left turn onto 4030. The Taurus was then struck by the truck.
Labiak was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Koperna was not injured. Damages were termed heavy to the Ford with minor front-end damage to the truck.
