Two cited in domestic incident
Tamaqua Police cited two people after a domestic incident in the borough on Sept. 21.
Officers were dispatched to 100 Pitt St. at 2:47 a.m. for a domestic in progress. At the home, they found Matthew Kirk, 32, and Fauntasia Baker, 27, who both appeared to be intoxicated. Baker had reportedly left the home earlier due to an argument and had returned to retrieve some personal items. When she was unable to find her child's iPad, according to Kirk, she began throwing things.
Baker wanted the officers to stay while she searched the place for the missing electronic device. She was told officers would remain while she gathered her children and some clothing, but would not be staying all night while she searched. Baker refused to leave the premises without the iPad and officers left the scene.
At 3:29 a.m., police were dispatched back to the area, where Kirk and Baker were in the street, yelling at each other. Both claimed to have been injured by the other person. Kirk did have a bloody nose. A witness said Kirk shoved Baker, who then punched him in the nose in retaliation. Both refused medical treatment.
The duo was arrested, each charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
District Judge Stephen Bayer arraigned them at 10:45 a.m., setting their individual bail amounts at $10,000 unsecured. A no-contact provision was part of the bail conditions.
