Kutztown man cited in Coaldale for drugs
A Kutztown man was cited by Coaldale police after a traffic stop on Feb. 20.
An officer was monitoring traffic at 2:10 a.m. when he saw a red Dodge stop at the intersection of Ruddle and Fifth streets, then turn without using a signal. While speaking with the driver the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana and asked who was using the drug. One of the passengers, Richard Patrick Welsh, 26, of 14653 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, admitted having a marijuana cigarette, which he said he uses to ease his nerves.
Welsh gave the joints to the officer, then admitted there was a jar containing more marijuana under his seat. The jar was located and confiscated as evidence.
Welsh was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
