Tamaqua man cited in domestic dispute

Shawn Burke, 39, of 80 Hunter St., Tamaqua, was cited by Tamaqua police following a disturbance at his home on April 9.

Officers were called to the home at 3:15 p.m. and spoke with Burke and his ex-wife, advising them to stop arguing and avoid each other.The woman said she called family members to take her to the Allentown area.

At 10:15 p.m. officers were again dispatched to the home. This time the woman was outside and told officers her ex had hit her and bitten her finger. One of the fingers on her left hand was red, swollen and had scratches on it. She declined medical treatment.

Shawn Burke was cited under the domestic disturbance laws.
