The engagement of Nora M. Tappan of Lehighton to Scott J. Smith Jr., also of Lehighton, has been announced by her parents.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Ellen R. Tappan of Lehighton and Timothy B. Tappan of Jim Thorpe. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology. She is employed as a dental hygienist at Professional Dental Associates and Northampton Community College.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mary Ann Smith of Lehighton and the late Scott J. Smith Sr. He is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and is employed as a chemist and engineer at Ametek Fluoropolymer Products.
A November wedding is planned at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe.
