Kelayres man cited in McAdoo for drugs

McAdoo police cited Kevin Black Jr., 18, of Kelayres after an incident on March 16.

An officer saw Black stumbling as he walked into a mini mart on Kennedy Drive. As the officer watched Black exited the store then walked north on Kennedy Drive. During this time a blue Dodge van began circling the block, following Black's progress.

When Black saw the patrol car he entered a yard and tried to run. He was picked up by Kline Township police who had responded to a call for assistance.

The McAdoo officer stopped the Dodge van and spoke to the occupants, who said they were trying to pick up Black so he could take them to his drug dealer so they could buy marijuana.

Black admitted placing four and a half Xanax "bars" on the back seat of the Kline Township cruiser, transferring them from his waistband. He said he purchased them illegally as he needed them because of his medical condition.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
