A Blakeslee man sustained what police termed "suspected serious injuries" when he crashed an all-terrain vehicle at 2:01 p.m. Aug. 4 on Hideaway Road in Polk Township.

State police at Lehighton said Barry N. George, 59, had severe head injuries after the crash.

Police said he was driving the ATV south when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the west shoulder of the road, rolled counterclockwise and overturned, coming to rest facing west off the west berm of the roadway. George was thrown off the ATV.

Police said the ATV sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.

Police said George was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
