Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 2:47 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers said Jared T. Hall, 26, of Sidney, New York, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 truck northbound when his vehicle hit the rear of a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Joel Lebeau, 67, of Washington, D.C.

Upon impact Lebaue lost control of her vehicle and traveled down a 40-foot embankment, rolling over as it went down. Lebeau and her passenger, Brent J. Volonakis, 62, of Orlando, Florida, were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, with serious injuries, troopers said.

Hall was not injured. Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Ryan Township and Delano fire companies and ambulances from Ryan Township, Mahanoy City and Shenandoah.

Troopers said Hall was cited for following too closely.
