Monroe man being sought in burglary

A Monroe County man is being sought by police in connection with a burglary that occurred earlier this month.

Pocono Mountain Regional police are seeking the whereabouts of Brian Sommers, 32, of 168 Elizabeth St., East Stroudsburg, for burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, theft and criminal mischief.

Police said on Aug. 10 they responded to a residence along Seven Nations Drive in Tobyhanna for a reported break-in. Police said the homeowners returned at 5:06 p.m. and as they entered the house a man, wearing khaki shorts and a blue T-shirt, was found inside and ran past them as the entered. Police said the suspect gained entry to the home by forcing a window.

A home surveillance system captured a suspect in the interior and exterior of the home. Sommers was identified as the man, police said.

Sommers is also wanted on several outstanding warrants. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call police at 570-895-2400.
