Man found stumbling in road is charged

Tamaqua police have filed charges against John Smith II, 27, with addresses in Tamaqua and Lansford, in connection with an incident on Aug. 10.

Officers went to the 200 block of Owl Creek Road to look for a suspicious person. They found Smith stumbling around in the middle of the road, in a highly intoxicated condition. Smith had warrants for his arrest and was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.

Tamaqua police have now charged him with public drunkenness for his actions.
