Art exhibit this weekend in Tamaqua
Melicharek's Fine Art Gallery at 366 Golf Road in Tamaqua will host its art show Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Milan Melicharek, P.W.S., P.W.C.S., uses several mediums from acrylics and oils to watercolors to create moody and atmospheric landscapes scenes. He has created over 2,200 works of art.
Melicharek has been a professional artist for over 40 years and has had works on display in the Allentown Art Museum, Midwest Color Society Show and Philadelphia Watercolor Society shows.
He was born in Jim Thorpe and attended Jim Thorpe Area High School. Melicharek served as a security police officer and police instructor for the U.S. Air Force.
In 1973, Melicharek graduated from Kutztown State University with a bachelor's degree in art education. In addition he studied painting at the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, from 1974 to 1992.
Melicharek worked as a high school art teacher at Northwestern Lehigh School District from 1973 to 2005.
He is a member of the Watercolor Society and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. He has hosted many one-man shows during his career and won high honors in shows across Pennsylvania to New York.
He belongs to several art organizations including the Lehigh Art Alliance of Allentown.
