Weaving class next month at art center

Cindy Miller of Tamaqua's Summershanty Fiber Arts Center will be teaching a class on "weaving on a rigid heddle loom" at the Tamaqua Community Art center in January.

Participants will learn how to make a unique, handwoven scarf during the two classes.

Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28 at 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.

The $60 fee covers both classes, use of a loom, warp and weft threads, shuttle and instructions. Miller will also discuss the history of weaving, parts of the loom and the different types of weaving. She will provide samples for review.
