Teen Dating Violence

Published February 02. 2016 04:00PM

Blue Mountain Health System recognizes Teen Dating Violence Month with a free program at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the community room at the Gnaden Huetten Campus, 211 N. 12th St. in Lehighton.

Teen dating violence is physical, sexual, psychological or emotional violence within a dating relationship, including stalking. It can occur in person or electronically. Teens often think some behaviors, like teasing and name calling, are a "normal" part of a relationship. These behaviors can become abusive and develop into more serious forms of violence.

Louise Keller, education coordinator at the Domestic Violence Service Center, will discuss the warning signs of teen dating violence and how to talk to your teen about their relationships.

Register at 610-377-7070.
