Jim Thorpe man charged with DUI

Jim Thorpe police have arrested David Wayne Rehrig, 54, of 1 Cedar Ave., Jim Thorpe, with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a one-vehicle crash at 8:55 p.m. Nov. 21, 2015.

Police said upon responding to the area of 1491 Center Ave., they observed a 2003 Jeep Wrangler resting on its side against a telephone pole. Police said Rehrig, who was driving the vehicle, informed them he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of the vehicle.

Police said he displayed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. A blood test revealed a blood-alcohol reading of 0.245.

Rehrig is facing two misdemeanor counts of DUI (alcohol) and a summary charge for a traffic violation.
